A Panfu Private Server (often abbreviated as PPS) is a replica of Panfu, created by members of the community as a way to play the game after its closure in 2016.

Modified Clients[]
A modified client was a kind of private server that made modifications to the client but used the server of the original Panfu. The most common features of these clients were the reactivation of the chat function or an item adder that allowed players to add items to their inventory. Editing the game's source code typically required decompiling the client.
After the closure of the original Panfu, Panfu.me and Pannun started working on their own server in order to continue using the Panfu client. The first server was developed by Panfu.me in 2017 and was based on Kitsune, a Club Penguin server emulator. The only public emulator is OpenPanfu, an open source Java/PHP project made by altro50 and Christiaan in 2018, however the project has been inactive since July 2020.
